Reuters reports Russian serviceman were captured by Ukranian forces in Amvrosiyivka about six miles from the Russian border.  The Washington Post identified the number of troops as 10.  The troops said they were part of a column of dozens of armored personnel carriers that thought they were going to military training.  One of the soldiers claimed he was a “contractor” coming to the Ukraine for training.  The troops surrendered when engaged by a Ukrainian tank.  Ukraine has published video interviewing the Russian paratroopers.

Russian news agencies quoted a Russian defense official as saying the soldiers had crossed the border by accident and surrendered to Ukrainian forces without attempting to resist.

Easy to understand, we always have a squad of Marines or paratroopers from the 82nd lost six miles in Mexico.

Ukraine also reported two Mi-24 Hind helicopters attacked a border outpost on the Luhansk region on Monday killing four soldiers and wounding three.  In Novoazovsk on the coast of the Sea of Azov (north of the Black Sea), Ukraine alleged a column of armored vehicles including tanks crossed the border and engaged in firefights.
