The Marines quietly announced on social media that they will be delaying a requirement for female Marines to meet the same standards as men of three pullups. Instead they will be required to do a flexed arm hang for a minimum of 15 sec. Off the record Marine officers told NPR they were concerned that enacting the three pull up rule would not only cause the Marines to lose new recruits but also currently serving female Marines. The standard will be delayed at least a year as more data is gathered part of the Corps initiative to determine what future combat specialties should be opened to women and under what standards.
