I wrote up an article for SOFREP on the shoot down of a Malaysian airliner today. It’s almost assuredly an act by rebel separatists who either got the missile from Russia though it’s possible it was captured from Ukrainian forces, and/or got training from Russian experts on how to employ the Buk missile system.
My SOFREP article speaks of various similar incidents pointing to a rebel shoot down as well as expansive Russian military support as well as why this was beyond MANPADS capability.
The story is still developing but there’s an outside chance that the missile may have even been launched from Russia.
The inevitable Russian spin will be hardly believable but informative. One of the first efforts tried to imply the shoot down was a potential effort by Ukraine to assassinate Putin.
