The Jordan Times reported that 11 Jordanians have been arrested over the last two weeks with links to ISIS. Eight of the Jordanians were charged with recruiting for ISIS and spreading their message in the Kingdom. The others were charged with planning terror operations to spread unrest in Jordan to precede further ISIS attacks in the future.
The King of Jordan recently stated that almost 10% of the population of Jordan consists of Syrian refuges from the civil war in that country and has reached a level that is almost unsustainable. The King also voiced concern that Hezbollah has established sleeper cells in his country. Jordan has a history of being destabilized by outside terror groups. The PLO almost took over the nation in 1970 which included an attempted Syrian invasion. The king defeated both the PLO and Syrian forces and subsequently exiled to Lebanon initiating that’s nation’s civil war and present fractured state. The lesson of refuges and terror groups is a lasting one.
History aside I predicted increased instability in Jordan in my essay, “American Combat Troops inevitable return to Iraq Part II”…
