Stars & Stripes reported SFC William K. Lacey from Laurel, FL. died from injuries received during an RPG attack in Nangarhar province Afghanistan.  The attack was initiated by a suicide bomber in an explosives filled car.  At least six insurgents, some wearing suicide vests, died in the base attack.  The gun battle between insurgents and coalition forces went on for about 40 minutes.

SFC Lacey was a vehicle mechanic in the 201st Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd BCT, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Knox.  This was his fifth deployment overall and second in Afghanistan.
